The Target/Schedule page has four options that allow you to control how the graph displays. You can find these options in the Graph Options section of the Target/Schedule page Navigation.
Using the options in the Historical Data menu, you can review one to eight weeks of data. The default setting is six weeks. Demand Manager uses this period to calculate the retrospective historical demand average for your selected profiles and locations. It is particularly useful to change the period during the initial demand implementation when there is less than six weeks of data available.
The Retrospective Average calculates the average target demand by day of week and time of day over the previous one to eight weeks based on the Historical Data option you select. The default period is six weeks. This provides you with a reference point for assessing demand each day in the past (Is demand running higher or lower as compared to the previous one to eight weeks?). The application uses the Retrospective Average to project demand into the future.
The Demand History displays the range of demand by day of week and time of day over the past one to eight weeks over each one hour interval, denoted by the light gray shading. The darker gray identifies what demand was 60% of the time, based on the history of the last one to eight weeks (using one hour time intervals). The default value is eight weeks. The application uses the Demand History to project demand into the future. Adjusting the periods during the first several weeks of HL7 Census initialization enables the application to project demand based on the information available in its databases.
You can view Retrospective Average and Demand History data individually or together.
The selections you make on the View menu affect what data the graph includes and how the Utilization bar is displayed. The View menu has three options:
When you select a Ratio view, the Retrospective Average and Demand History options are unavailable. You can only configure one Global Skill to represent the Caregivers in the Caregiver:Patient ratios, so the graph uses that skill when calculating ratios regardless of how many Global Skills you have selected.
