Understanding Patient Patterns with Acuity Levels

Organizations using both Demand Manager and Outcomes-Driven Acuity have the option to view acuity levels on the Patient Pattern Management page. When the option is in use, patient patterns are color-coded by acuity level value.

Acuity level values come from two places:

When an acuity assessment is completed, the pattern bar is a solid color. When the default acuity value is in use, the bar has a colored pattern. If the patient has spent time in a location where patient acuity assessments are not used, that part of the bar is white.

In the following illustration, both of these patients have the same acuity level: 3. The first patient received this acuity level by default, as indicated by the colored pattern; the second patient had her acuity set because of an acuity assessment, as indicated by the solid color.

The option to view patient patterns with acuity levels is available only to users with manager-level security permissions. It is unavailable to employees with demand permissions, acuity permissions, or both.
